The Labor Gymnastics (LG) is a program of prevention and health promotion, which aims to reduce accidents at work, to prevent occupational diseases and injuries, re-educate posture and avoid fatigue generated by the work, set the mood for work and therefore provide a improvement in productivity. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the effects of a program of GL on back pain and quality of life of workers of a university in southern Brazil. The study was characterized as being the experimental type, with control and experimental groups. With the experimental group was developing a program of GL for a period of 36 months. Officials of both groups answered a questionnaire in the pre-and post-GL program. The results show that individuals in the experimental group showed improvement in quality of life and back pain, whereas in the control group, there was no significant difference in any of the variables, and refer to an increased risk of backache. Therefore, these results indicate that the program has generated positive effects of GL and improved the quality of life and pain in the back of the experimental group.
