Abstract

This article intends to comprehend the Mbyá-Guarani way of being through their musicality, based on a bibliographical review of academic productions of both History and Anthropology. Through dialogues established between those two areas, we observed as a result, the centrality that Mbyá-Guarani musicality occupies in such way of being, as a vital principle of maintenance of earthly life, related above all to spirituality, bringing new life and new meanings to some traditional practises. Throughout this research it was possible to partially analyze how historiography approaches indigenous musicality, specially Mbyá-Guarani musicality. These discussions are approached throughout this article, in order to demonstrate the particularities of Mbyá-Guarani musicality, which surrounds a whole way of living.
