Abstract

The article aims to know the narratives of health professionals who work in the Center for Psychosocial Care of Childhood and Adolescence (CAPS, Centro de Atenção Psicossocial da Infância e Adolescência) about involuntary hospitalization, as well as the relationship of the family in the care process and the judicialization of mental health care.  The study is descriptive and exploratory, with a qualitative approach. A semi-structured interview was applied to two employees, with questions about the service routine, user profile, and family participation. The analysis of the data produced was given from Braun and Clarke's Thematic Analysis. The findings during the interviews provided the creation of 3 thematic axes to discuss the issue: 1) Profile of hospitalized patients, in which it was possible to identify that generally users indicated for hospitalization are male adolescent offenders; 2) Involuntary hospitalization: punishment or salvation? in which we seek to understand the conditions that are applied for such practice and; 3) Judicialization as a resource of adherence of families and health services, an incursion in the speeches to investigate the duality of judicial actions in processes/treatment for drug use. Final Considerations: It was observed that an alignment of the health and judicial sectors is necessary, prioritizing equally the health and safety of adolescents. Also, the establishment of a comprehensive care network, aimed at reintegrating them into society, following the principles of the Public Health System.
