SIGNO JOURNAL: AN ANALYSIS OF A PERIODICAL IN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

The Signo Journal, created in 1975 and currently affiliated with the Graduate Program in Language Studies and Literature at the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC), constitutes an important instrument for maintaining the history of research in the field of Linguistics and Literature and related areas and for the sharing of scientific knowledge. This article provides a detailed analysis of its trajectory, from its origin to its adaptation to the digital media with the popularization of the internet. Aspects such as graphic and editorial evolution are highlighted, as well as the edition dedicated to Professor Dr. Ingo Voese, the founder of the journal, who passed away in 2007. Furthermore, some thematic editions and editorial quality are examined, including evaluation metrics and the publication process. This analysis aims to contextualize the significant role of the Signo Journal in advancing knowledge in Language Studies and Literature, emphasizing its relevance as a vehicle for disseminating academic research over its 49-year history.
