This paper presents the historical and chronological retrieval, in the form of a bibliographic review, of the publications of temperature charts and abacus of Heisler M. P., and of other authors, used for control of thermal treatment of materials over time. The research development has been carried out by consulting the main bases of publication on scientific journals and books, analyzing the way the subject has been approached by authors of the theme. The research methodology used has been based on description and explanation, with bibliographic data collection, using quantitative variables, seeking, thus, to obtain better evaluation parameters. The original contribution is the historical and chronological demonstration of the "time arrow" temperature charts, which serve as an academic and practical guide for future research. The limitation is given by the publication of thermal charts chronologically found in heat transfer journals and books from 1826 to the present day. The significant results found so far have expressed the evolution of thermal charts and the need to implement tools that facilitate the extraction of complex data in temperature charts. This work was the starting point for the development and registration of the M&J Transient Calculator for Cylinders software, which will be covered in future work.Downloads
