Abstract

Water consumption in urban centers is increasingly impacting the use of available water resources, which favors the increase in pressure imposed on springs. Thus, the present study has as a purpose to characterize water consumption in buildings at the Federal University of Goiás through the analysis of consumption data and consumption indicators. The research was realized by surveying the water bills of the 9 UFG buildings that had water meters with reliable readings from 2018 to 2021, where the buildings were divided into two sectors: administrative and academic. The results showed that the average CI's in the administrative sector in 2018 and 2019 was 39.7 and 36.7 liters/employee/day, respectively. In the academic sector, the values were 15.7 liters/student/day in 2018 and 17.4 liters/student/day in 2019. In 2020 and 2021, the study was limited only to consumption due to the stoppage of part of the activities at UFG. The academic sector was the one with the highest consumption averages, with a total of 57 maintenance performed in this sector in 2020 and 2021. Of the maintenance performed between 2018 and 2021, 46.3% were on taps. The absence of water meters in buildings was the biggest obstacle to consumption monitoring and conducting of the research.
