Abstract

The research's general objective is to demonstrate the role of municipalities in preventing and eradicating child labor, through the establishment of strategic public policy actions that prioritize combating it. To this end, specific objectives were proposed: contextualize the exploitation of child labor in Brazil; analyze legal protection and public policies to combat child labor in Brazil; and expose the role of the municipality in building the planning of strategic actions for public policies to prevent and eradicate child labor. The approach method is deductive, with monographic procedural methods. Bibliographic and documentary research techniques were used. It appears that municipalities have responsibilities in favor of the prevention and eradication of child labor, and must, through their Municipal Councils for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, carry out diagnoses of the local context, develop action planning with established goals, promote community awareness to address cultural causes, carry out intersectoral activities focused on assistance, establish service protocols and referral flows, coordinate the Service Network and the Child and Adolescent Rights Guarantee System, among other actions.
