Natural Childbirth or Cesarean Section? Factors that influence the decision on the type of delivery

Background and Purpose: To identify reasons that interfere with the mode of delivery of the decision to offer subsidies in developing strategies that bring the pregnant woman's health care provider, ensuring performance and active participation in the decision. This study aimed to know the interference factors in pregnant women in a Basic Health Unit of Maringa, Parana, in the decision the way of delivery. Methods: A descriptive, exploratory qualitative study conducted among pregnant women followed in the Basic Health Unit of Maringa, Parana. Data were collected between July and August 2015, by recorded interviews, guided by semi-structured. For the treatment of the data we used the Bardin technique. Results: We interviewed 10 mothers. The speeches were grouped into three categories: Decision by the mode of delivery among pregnant women; Understanding the reasons for the choice of pregnant women by type of delivery and support sources for the decision by the mode of delivery. Conclusions: Many women have doubts in choosing the type of delivery, some incline to normal delivery for fast recovery. complaints are common lack of information and support of some members of the professional staff. Must seek work of the multidisciplinary team of human and effective way for professionals to assist the rescue of the active role of women, empowering them to the birth process. Then to occur empowerment of women and thus increase her control over itself, is an important strategy prioritized the promotion of women's health.Downloads
