Abstract

This article presents the process of developing the tactile models of the Museum of Art of Rio Grande do Sul - MARGS, accomplished by the Architecture and Urbanism course at the University of Santa Cruz do Sul. Margs is a museum institution, founded on July 27, 1954, located in a historically significant building recognized by the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage - Iphan. The building, constructed between 1913 and 1916, originally to house the Tax Delegation, underwent reuse and today receives around 50 thousand visitors annually, including those with disability. However, its accessibility is limited due to the lack of means that enable visually impaired individuals to comprehend the building. Therefore, with the aim of ensuring accessibility and knowledge of the space, as well as improving the understanding, respect, and rights of access for people with visual impairments, there is a need to create a three-dimensional model on a reduced scale of the building. To achieve this, the Architecture and Urbanism course, through the partnership between Margs and UNISC, was hired to develop the tactile models of the museum.
