Abstract

This study was carried out in a Socio-educational Detention Center of Campinas; it aimed to understand how physical education happens in the daily life of a liberty deprivation Institution for juvenile Law offenders and the challenges to teaching in this context. It was observed that there are several security and control devices that regulate the institutional daily life in this universe and that, faced with a rigid and cautious organization, teachers themselves undergo constant adaptation processes. Difficulties are also related to contradictions of a space that is theoretically intended to be emancipatory, but which controls the bodies of those submitted to socio-educational detention.
