In this article we approach theoretical and methodological assumptions which guided the making of handcraft workshops with women in prison by means of a university outreach program. We problematized imprisonment, analyzing the historic subjugation of women, which has affected manual labor as well. Using recent academic research as a starting point, we incorporated elements from pedagogies that are (re)invented by women when they gather to learn and teach handcrafts. We present subsidies to (re)think artisanal production as a reflective and creative practice, questioning the patriarchal logic characteristics that such activities tend to undertake.Downloads
