This article approaches the use Horkheimer and Adorno of the Kantian doctrine of schematism do in order to explain culture industry‟s typical procedure, according to which the capacity of its customers to “schematizing” (i.e., referring intuitions to concepts) by their own is expropriated from them. Taking into account that the authors do not give further clues to understanding how this process works, my article seeks to explain how the very capacity of perceiving is reached by the “schematism‟s usurpation”, according to points made in the chapter of Dialectic of Enlightenment on anti-semitism. These points are further completed – and also compared – with positions by Hans Lenk in his book The Thought and its content. Keywords: Critical Theory, Frankfurt School, Immanuel KantDownloads
