Abstract

Introduction: the importance of radiology in the diagnosis and prevention of diseases is indisputable and, given its technological advances, this relevance has increased over time. Objective: the paper intends to analyze the role of computed tomography in the diagnosis of COVID-19 in Brazil. Method: the per capita rate of CT scanners in Brazil was compared with the standard suggested by the Ministry of Health and with the measure present in developed countries, as well as the evolution of chest tomography procedures after COVID-19 was analyzed. Results and Final Considerations: the results indicated a concentration of CT scanners in large urban centers, leaving a significant portion of the population unattended, as well as demonstrating a consistent importance of the computed tomography in the diagnosis of COVID-19.
