Introduction: vitamin D is a steroid hormone that has been shown to be efficient in preventing and combating respiratory diseases. Despite its importance, a considerable portion of the Brazilian population is deficient in this vitamin, which may be related to health problems such as arthritis, hypertension, asthma and the appearance of more serious symptoms in patients with Covid-19. Objective: to evaluate the consumption of vitamin D by customers attending at a compounding pharmacy located in the city of Jaraguá do Sul, for a period of 10 years. Methods: data were obtained from a compounding pharmacy, using the system, which provided data such as the sale of this vitamin from 2011 to 2021, separated into solid and liquid formulations. Results: in 2011, after the H1N1 pandemic, there was a greater number of sales of formulations containing vitamin D, as well as in 2021, the year of the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the pharmaceutical forms analyzed, the capsules stood out in the number of sales. Conclusion: vitamin D supplementation has been used as a resource in the treatment of infections associated with respiratory problems, so the data obtained in this work reinforce this hypothesis. From the data obtained in this work, it was possible to observe that in the years of pandemics, sales of vitamin D increased considerably. However, further studies are needed to investigate mechanisms of action by which vitamin D contributes to the treatment of these diseases.
