The study examines the deployment of Municipal Law N ˚ 1.098/2004, which requires condominiums residences of Novo Hamburgo and others, to undertake a series of physical adjustments in their waste collectors, and join the programme of selective collection of municipal waste. The survey relates only to condominiums vertical (apartments) and focuses on the concentration in a domestic environment, excluding shops and condominiums household formed by houses. Seeking to reality on the issue, was made a survey of data through photographic record of condominiums in the city centre and in six neighborhoods near the center, which is the region where they concentrated most of condominiums vertical installed at home Novo Hamburgo. In addition, a questionnaire was used for investigative purposes of comparison with the photographic record. The results show a situation of breach between the law and condominiums, where the majority of housing is not adapted to the requirements of the law and where the level of segregation of household waste in the units is still low.
