ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS ON CATCHMENT AREAS - THE CASE OF THE RIVER BASIN PARAÍBA

Abstract

This article portrays the environmental degradation that occurs in regions of river basins, linking some environmental impacts and their characteristics, and consider addressing these impacts in a positive way, or how reviving the degraded areas. There is the example of the Paraíba river basin, with all’s peculiar climate in time and space. Concluded that with appropriate management measures and mitigating actions, the recovery of impacted areas of river basins cause the improvement of water quality, combat and control of diffuse pollution, the improvement of flora and fauna accordingly, ie environmental rehabilitation almost complete, benefiting the environment and therefore the man.
