Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss unpaid female labor as a form of labor exploitation that is rendered invisible through processes of female subjectivation that socialize women and girls into caregiving roles. The universalization of care as an inherent experience for individuals born with female biological markers embeds unpaid female labor as part of women's socialization, exacerbating existing gender asymmetries in society – which is also reproduced in the digital realm through algorithmic bias present in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Specific objectives include: a) contextualizing care as a form of socialization for women and girls; b) highlighting the existence of algorithmic bias that perpetuates gender discrimination and reinforces stereotypes; c) developing the notion of unpaid female labor as labor rather than care. The conclusion suggests that, despite all progress, especially in legislative realms ensuring equal rights, the prevailing process of female subjectivation reinforces stereotypes and social roles, attributing caregiving responsibilities to women and girls as a form of subjectivation, rather than recognizing it as labor. The deductive method is employed for approach, documentary and bibliographic research methods are utilized, and the procedural method is monographic.
