Abstract

The term obstetric violence designates a series of practices and behaviors that, during the labor and birth process, can infringe on the rights, dignity and physical and psychological integrity of women. Addressing this phenomenon requires an in-depth analysis of its different facets, considering not only the clinical and procedural aspects, but also the ethical, social and cultural dimensions involved. As a general objective, the research seeks to analyze the consequences of obstetric violence in women's lives. To give concreteness to the general objective, the specific objectives of the research, arranged in two sections, are the following: a) identify the complexities of obstetric violence; b) evaluate the challenges faced in a judicial process related to obstetric violence and the approaches adopted by feminist law. In view of this, this article was constructed based on the following problem question: to what extent is feminist advocacy an agent to curb difficulties in a judicial process of obstetric violence? The initial hypothesis is that conservatism, machismo and patriarchalism rooted in our social situation are social artifacts imposed to perpetuate the control of female bodies. As a general objective, the research seeks to analyze the consequences of obstetric violence in women's lives. The following study presents itself as qualitative research, characteristic of social sciences, and has a deductive method of approach, as it starts from an analysis of general to particular data, in order to understand the social phenomenon. Furthermore, the method of procedure is monographic and the research technique is bibliographic, as they are based on studies already published in books, articles, dissertations and theses.
