Abstract

This article aims to discuss the progress and prospects for rural women's autonomy based on the Rural Women's Productive Backyards Program as a government response to one of the demands of the March of Daisies. In view of this, the following question was posed as a research problem: to what extent can the Rural Women's Productive Farms Program contribute to rural women's autonomy, especially considering the March of the Daisies? We used a deductive approach and bibliographic and documentary research techniques, dividing the study into two specific objectives: (i) to discuss rural women's struggle for autonomy, taking into account the March of the Daisies and (ii) to analyze the Rural Women's Productive Farms Program, established by Decree No. 11,642 of August 16, 2023. In short, it is concluded that through the effective implementation of this program, it is possible to contribute directly to women's autonomy, since it provides aid, access, spaces and incentives. However, without a social transformation in favor of gender equality, a program will not be enough to guarantee the full economic autonomy of rural women.
