THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL MEASURES FOR ADOLESCENT OFFENDERS
Abstract
The article addresses the issue of rehabilitating juveniles who have committed crimes using social-educational measures. The objective is to comprehend the current socio-educational measures, their nature, and objectives. It is important to highlight the significance of re-socialization over punishment. The article analyzes the effectiveness of socio-educational measures and public policies linked to detention, taking into account the overcoming of the Juvenile Code by the Federal Constitution of 1988 and the Statute of the Child and Adolescent. The analysis emphasizes the significance of the state legislating and acting in a less punitive and more educational manner. It favors the social re-education of adolescents and recognizes that childhood is a crucial phase in human development, requiring guidance to shape their behavior rather than subjecting them to punishments that hinder restructuring of their thoughts and habits. Although resocializing adolescents who have committed an offense can be challenging, it is essential to guarantee their rights, promote their integral development, and build a more just and humanizing society. This is evident in the statements made regarding the implementation of socio-educational measures.Downloads
