THE LAW AND PUBLIC POLICY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM: THE EXPERIENCE OF STATE ATTORNEY INSTITUTIONAL SCHOOLS

The article presents the curricular evolution of the study of the Theory of Public Policy in public law schools, based on the report of three experiences over a 12-year period, with the objective of demonstrating the importance of sharing experiences to help improve the Law and Public Policy (DPP) approach, focusing on the construction of appropriate curricular and methodological teaching matrices, associating theory and practice. The introduction presents the correlation between public policies and the Public Attorneys' Office, based on its constitutional mission. In the second part there is the account of the strategies for incorporating the subject Law and Public Policies in the Higher Schools of Public Attorneys, from projects of the Higher School of the Attorney General's Office of the State of São Paulo (ESPGE), a pilot project (2010) and a more structured course (2014/15), with the creation of the subject Methodical applied public policies to Fundamental Rights and Practical Workshops. The third narrative shares the maturation of the academic proposal from the creation of a national specialization legal course (2020/23), a partnership between the National School of Public Advocacy (ESNAP) and the University of São Paulo (USP), with notes on the creation of the curriculum structure and the methodology adopted in the General Theory of Public Policy subject, combining the theoretical part on public policy, thematic classes on specific public policy and practical workshops. The last part presents a critical reflection on the didactic process based on the DPP approach.
