Abstract

Background and Objectives: Although Primary Health Care (PHC) to be the coordinator and care provider, a large part of the tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis is carried out in the Emergency Care and reference services. In this sense, this study aimed to analyze the cases of TB that were diagnosed and reported in the reference service of the state of Rondônia in the period from 2014 to 2016. Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional and quantitative approach. The data were collected through a survey of the socio-demographic and clinical variables in SINAN and analyzed through descriptive statistics, after meet the ethical precepts. Results: During the study period, 2,230 TB cases were diagnosed and reported in Rondônia, of which 67.40% were in Porto Velho, and 50.30% in the reference service. Regarding the profile, the mean age was 38 years (± 16), most of them male, brown, less than 8 years of schooling, lived in Porto Velho, in the urban area, new case, TB pulmonary clinical form, sputum smear positive, thorax radiography suspected of TB, HIV negative and unprepared sputum culture. Regarding the closure situation, it was observed a low cure rate, high for transference and abandonment. The mean treatment time was 160 days (± 103). Conclusion: These findings are similar to the literature, which demonstrates the fragility of PHC in relation to strategic actions for early detection, timely treatment and follow-up of TB cases.
