Validity, Reproducibility and Reliability of the Work Ability Index: A Systematic Review

Background and Objective: to describe the studies of validity, reproducibility and reliability of the Work Ability Index (WAI). Method: this is a systematic review, data search was conducted in electronic databases PUBMED and BVS. Results: were found 348 articles, and selected twelve to compose the documentary corpus of this review. The WAI showed psychometric properties adequate with good performance and acceptable levels of reliability and reproducibility, and indicated for studies future with similar populations of which participated in the validation studies. Conclusion: the indicators confirm the validity of WAI, nevertheless there are still gaps in relation to the cutoff point’s categories of the WAI to use with reliability, besides the use of other internal consistency by considering the limitations of alpha and, also, studies complete validation for different categories of workers in the distinct regions of the countries.
