Clinical and epidemiological profile of cancer occurred in the 2005-2012 period in the State of Paraná

Background and Objective: It is justified to carry out this study to consider the global burden neoplasms represent and its deleterious consequences to society, given its epidemiological and social relevance of this study aimed to verify the clinical epidemiological profile of cancer occurred between 2005-2012 in the state of Parana. Method: This is a descriptive and exploratory cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. We included all 132,480 cases of cancer of the Hospital Cancer Registry, the National Cancer Institute (INCA), occurred in Paraná between 2005-2012. Results: In Paraná there was an increase in cases of cancer, these occur more in women in the age group where they are most economically active. The disease affects more people of color / white. Referrals are mostly made by SUS. The most widely used form for diagnosis is histological and common types are skin neoplasms, breast, prostate and cervix. Conclusions: Knowing these characteristics allows direct strategies for early detection and health education measures disease, planning of public health policies and collective promotion.Downloads
