Occurrence of neoplasma in the city of Santa Amélia – PR – in the period from 2007 to 2011

Background and Objectives: To conceive the work of being justified by the high rates of cancer cases at the global level, as well, as a consequence. Due to the importance of epidemiology in the fight against diseases, such as neoplasms, this study had the objective of analyzing the prevalence of cancer cases in the municipality of Santa Amélia, Paraná, from 2.007 to 2.011. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study Of quantitative approach. The data were provided by the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance of the municipality of Santa Amélia - PR. Results: The results showed that in the period 2.007 to 2.011, there was a total prevalence of 1,068 cases of cancer, so that the largest number of tumors were located in the digestive tract (224 cases), skin (173 cases), breast (143 cases) 111 cases). Conclusion: The city of Santa Amélia - PR presents high prevalence of cancer cases if taken into account the total number of inhabitants. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that a population-based awareness-raising program be developed as a form of prevention.Downloads
