Strategies that seek to promote the quality of life of people with Diabetes Mellitus: Integrative review

Background and Objectives: The Diabetes Mellitus is characterized by lack of insulin or pancreatic gland's inability to produce it, failing to exercise certain functions essential to the body and can impact on the quality of life of people affected by the disease. The study has as objective to know the scientific literature on the strategies that seek to promote the quality of life of people with Diabetes Mellitus. Contents: This is an integrative review, developed in MEDLINE, LILACS and SCIELO, during the month of February 2016. We used the keywords "diabetes mellitus" and "quality of life" and from the establishment of the inclusion criteria and exclusion, analyzed in this review a total of 16 articles were read in full. Conclusion: The productions mention that it is necessary to promote prevention and self care in order to improve the quality of life of people with Diabetes Mellitus. Studies, mostly international, showed some strategies that can improve the quality of life of these subjects. It is noteworthy that met absence of productions that addressed what are the strategies developed by the health staff working in the setting of primary health care that can promote the quality of life of people with diabetes.Downloads
