The aim of this study is to reflect on the teaching of Developmental Psychology in undergraduate courses in the area of health sciences. That subject is didactically concerned with developmental stages and characteristics endorsed to each stage that will guide care provision to children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly needs. It is argued that this perspective is centered on the age criteria, disregarding other descriptions and other markers, such as culture. It is suggested to go beyond from a type of science focused exclusively on certain processes that traditionally characterize development, offering conditions for the emergence of a critical developmental science.Downloads
