Abstract

The present work aims to capture, by means of the speech of high school teachers from public institutions of the Great Porto Alegre metropolitan area, marks and pedagogical actions that pervade the educational day-to-day practice. The analysis of the interviews –which tries to carefully read the discourse produced by the teachers-- seeks to locate cultural expressions which would support the developing of an intercultural education proposal, understood here as a process charged with intentionality in a given multiculturally-constituted context. What is claimed here is that the afore mentioned speeches -- by potentializing the differences-- may recognise and value the intrinsic diversity of the reality of a school in (sub)urban environments. Such process triggers mixed and fluid results, constituting other cultural productions which are included under the title 'Interculturality'. Key words: Intercultural education; culture; teachers’ education; difference; cultural diversity
