In this article, we propose another way of reading Capitu's silence, by bringing Luiz Fernando Carvalho's television miniseries Capitu (2008) closer to Machado de Assis' novel Dom Casmurro (1899). Considering the urgency of media literacy for the education of readers, the analysis compares scenes from the literary text and the series, analyzing the transposition of some scenes with the support of Lars Elleström's media modalities (2021) and some input from Discourse Analysis (Orlandi, 2007) for the discursive formulations of silence.
