From a discursive perspective of the media, this work presents the study of the covers of the Brazilian weekly information magazines Carta Capital, Istoé and Veja, about the undemocratic acts of January 8, 2023. Our corpus are three covers from 2023, published shortly after the events, and three covers a year after the event. We adopt Gervereau's methodological approach (2004) based on three stages: description, context and interpretation. The objective is to analyze the verbo-visual discourse of these covers about January 8th in Brazil. The work allows us to reflect on the processes of formulation and circulation of journalistic discourses about a relevant political event, leading to the production of meaning in our society. It is evident that, despite being informative magazines, there is an argumentative tone in the covers, guiding the readers' perception towards the desired stance, whether in a more or less forceful manner.
