On the specificity of poetic knowledge

Abstract

This article investigates the particular knowledge of the poetic discourse. First, it establishes the specific place of poetry from its relation with history and philosophy, considering: Plato’s and Aristotle’s views of poetry; residual past as the foundation of History; and poetry as essential knowledge. Second, it aims to determine the specific form and mode of truth of the poetry, considering: poetry as discursive temporality; understanding of poetry and understanding of History; history and myth; the particular instance of the reader; and poetry as a process of acting and making. Third, it aims to investigate poetry as a free relevant act in which the essential instance of the reader is called to find an essential truth on her/himself. Thus, it aims to contribute to the interdisciplinary field of the relation between poetry, knowledge and speculative and practical discourses.
