Abstract

In this article, follows on stories, selected by Machado de Assis to be part of the collections held by him in such distinguished work in the composition of the genre. Machado points out the difficulty inherent in the genre and the little story that will lend prestige writers and readers, deceived by its apparent lack of formal care. This care is in the shape of an innovative Brazilian writer, although his productions extinguish the fireworks to make way for storytellers who are conversing with a listener and whose word emerges from the lived experience. The stories, whose comment here whether it will show the relationship between the apparent spontaneity of the story, which seems to establish the call to the hobby and escape from everyday life, the composition and structure, which requires the involvement of the reflective reader.
