The current paper focuses on the relations among reading, poetic text and knowledge, encompassing the triad author- literary work – reader. A poem by Micheliny Verunschk is used to trigger those elements. Positionings by Gaston Bachelard and Paul Valéry have been mainly used as the rationale for our analysis. Firstly, concerning the author, we broach the historical opposition between the “inspired poet” and the “working poet”, as well as the concept of “poetic mood”, which is detached from the everyday mind process. Afterwards, regarding the literary work, we consider those resources used by the author in order to materialize a poem. Eventually, in relation to the reader, we present aspects linked to the predominance of mental processes associated with reason which end up creating a “technical” reader, as well as the emotional aspects which render him/her an “inspired reader”, as exemplified with a poem by Affonso Romano Sant’Anna, in which the virtualities of the poetic text may occur after the reading, thus accomplishing a degree of knowledge only feasible through the lived experience.Downloads
