Based on regional literary studies, this paper analyzes the characters Dona Gloria, Madalena and Paulo Honório. They are presented by Graciliano Ramos in the novel São Bernardo (2005). The goal is to understand how are articulated the characters in the conflict with the region in which they operate and how the regional distress can come to compose them from contact with different realities, and bring out a process of reflection / humanization of the characters. Furthermore are discussed categories as regionalism, cultural region, and regionality.Downloads
