Instrumental English (ESP): the use of reading strategies in an online course

This article presents important issues on instrumental English (ESP – English for Specific Purposes) and reading strategies. In an online instrumental reading course of technical English for Informatics reading strategies in foreign language texts were focused using the internet and web and comprehension activities were developed based on Françoise Grellet (1996). Besides the use of reading strategies, other objectives guided the work such as developing a constructive pedagogy throughout the course, giving education to the students, and using the internet not for the simple purpose of technology, but with well defined educational objectives.Downloads
