The present study aims to show Alberto Caeiro’s contradiction in relation to the rational and objective knowledge, in the work O guardador de rebanhos, revealed, in some moments, through the use of antithesis and paradoxes in the poems. So, the objective is to contribute to enlarge the studies about Fernando Pessoa’s heteronyms, mainly to change the vision of Caeiro as a perfect exemplar of the Paganism, when, in fact, he is strongly marked by the intelligence and the reflection.In order to confirm the proposed thesis, are going to be presented the analysis of poems of the mentioned work, as well as are going to be pointed the position of scholars about the subject.Downloads
