Abstract

Is poetical creation rational work or divine inspiration? Finding this answer is the driving force of this study. A textual development is carried out broaching the poetic making as an attempt to answer this question, considering the perspective of abandonment to inspiration as well as awareness production and strict work of the poet. In order to give support to the two lines of thought, the texts of Platão, Edgar Allan Poe, Paul Valéry, Hugo Friedrich, Octavio Paz, and Jorge Larrosa were used in the theoretical reference. Apart from the theoretical study, the text focuses on the literary production of Mario Quintana, therefore having his poems as the objective of analysis. Without disregarding matters related to inspiration and the artistic awareness construction, we tried to identify in the analyzed reading texts how the poetic making is processed. Aiming at illuminating the creation act in Quintana, the way inspiration and technique are intertwined and transform life in poetic material, allowing us to state that it's possible to link poetical liberty and artistic awareness, was investigated, in esthetic and thematic terms.
