The study analyzes written language use by undergraduate students entering university, in terms both of register appropriacy and coherence. Seventy texts in which an answer to a stimulus question was produced were analyzed. Based on the data, the initial hypothesis that language use by the participants would be problematic was confirmed. Actually, data analysis has shown language usage problems in the totality of the corpus, with difficulties related to written coherence being the most salient.Downloads
