Abstract

The present article approaches the issue of authorship in the digital literature under Michel Foucault’s perspective. It begins by presenting the recent state of art, which seems to be divided in two opposed points of view: on the one hand, the hypertext author is regarded as dead and, on the other hand, it is looked at as sovereign. After a short overview of the way digital literature has been recently defined by literary criticism, the article presents a synthesis of Foucault’s concept of authorship. In the sequence, seeking inspiration in Foucault’s thought, it reasons that hypertext author does not disappear as the individual responsible for a new kind of writing. Its identity as a author-function instead goes through relevant changes.
