In this article, we discuss the process of L2 phonetic-phonological acquisition from a dynamic account. We present an overview of emergentism, which will pave the way for a discussion on the tenets of Dynamic Systems Theory in language acquisition. Based on these tenets, we discuss the perception and production of L2 sounds under a dynamic view. Finally, we discuss the implications brought up by this dynamic account on the research and teaching scenarios, by highlighting the main challenges presented by this account.Downloads
