Analysis of the scientific production of Revista de Epidemiologia e Controle de Infecção

Background and Objective: Aiming to meet the demand for publications of epidemiological knowledge, the objective was to investigate the profile of the publications of the Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Control (RECI) from its inception in October 2011 until June 2017. Method: A descriptive study was carried out based on the analysis of the published articles, SEER Platform data and lattes curriculum of the authors. The data extracted were: number of articles submitted and published; editions; number of pages; work section; number, degree and sex of the authors; region of work; number of references; time between submission and publication; articles and abstracts. Results: Of the 585 articles submitted, 238 were published in 7 editions, with an average of 42.37 (dp ± 21) pages per number. Of these, 137 (58%) original and 28 (12%) revision. The overall mean number of authors was 4 (dp = ± 1.2) per article and 42 (dp = ± 13.4) per volume, of which 17% were masters, 15% were bachelors and 14% were doctors, 68% women, and 99% of Brazilians, mainly from the South (54%), the Northeast (18%) and the Southeast (18%) regions. The mean number of references was 21 (dp = ± 27) per article and the mean time between submission and publication was 229 days (SD = ± 80). A total of 61,000 views were viewed on articles by the middle of 2017, and the most commonly accessed topic was HIV. Conclusion: Through joint evaluation of the content and performance of the publications, an increase in the quality of RECI was noticed and the points to be improved.Downloads
