Abstract

This article analyzes the phenomenon of hunger as a socioeconomic trait in the formation and imaginary of the semi - arid territory inserted in the list of facts that violate human and fundamental rights. For the analysis, it is used the didactic, fictional literature, and information obtained from the United Nations with regard to food and agriculture. This methodological resource allowed us to understand how hunger and the conditions of its social reproduction are expressed differently in territories such as the United States and Africa, and the lack of public policies to combat drought in the Brazilian semi-arid region become decisive factors for its territorial reproduction. We also delineated aspects related to the market and the construction of the phenomenon in several bases, showing how the hunger suffered the semi-arid and how continues to suffer in several aspects the region, although already less conflicted with the coverage of the drought and, as a result, with the own hunger.
