Abstract

From the realization that fiscal and rural modules concepts are anachronic, it is proposed the adoption of “settlement modules” to agrarian reform in Rio Grande do Sul – Brazil. Based in production systems methodology, we got agricultural production and gains data in the settlement from 2004/2005 harvest. It was determined, for a first reference, the mains production systems founded, with emphasis in the meat and dairy system, whose average costs and gains provided information about the hectare profitability. Althougth its low presence in settlements, we presented the castor oil plant module, recommended for biodiesel raw material production, due to a strong trend to increase its importance in short term. Considering the presence or not of cultivated low land, the modules were calculated to each one of the six regions where INCRA actuates, dividing the minimum expected gain (13 minimum wage for a human work unit per year) for the respective production systems profitability. The parcel final area definition is made in each case taking in account the soil and topographic aspects, adding to the module the permanent protected area, legal reserve and useless area.
