Abstract

This paper addresses the issues relating to the relationship between sport and territory in the state of Santa Catarina. The state of Santa Catarina is characterized by specialization and dispersion of productive activities in the territory. However, the dynamics of spacialization observed in the amateur sport has a logic of its own and distinct of territorialization from the professional sport, and does not accompany the productive spatial differentiation logic. From this, this study seeks to examine the specific features by which the amateur sport to expand in the territory of the state of Santa Catarina. To this end, was used the process of territorialization based on analysis of amateur sports competition with the greatest impact on the state of Santa Catarina, the Open Games of Santa Catarina.
