Abstract

The article discusses the presence of Arab immigration on the border between Santana do Livramento (Brazil) and Rivera (Uruguay), analyzing how Arab culture influences the economic actions that the descendants of Arab immigrants as traders realize that border. By identifying different flows of Arab immigration, the study shows that culture makes a difference in the economic behavior of the descendants of Arab immigrants, even if it meant and resignified by the different generations that make up the history of the Arab community on the border between Santana do Livramento and Rivera.
