The philosophical reflection about education is a necessity for the education of the theoretical investigator, as a historical reference that provides the conceptual and radical questioning of the contradictions concerning the production of knowledge and culture. In this work we develop the concept of paideia by establishing a contrast betwen the utilitarian conception of education in the information society, which concerns only meet the demands of the labor market. In questioning the true meaning of education seeking the origins of Western culture, we intend to contribute to the theoretical debate of education. The Greek paideia as a guiding criterion for thinking education makes it possible to raise awareness and critical look at education as a factor of humanization of man.Downloads
