Relevance-oriented strategies in textual comprehension: a case study with a moderate phonological dyslexic reader

In this case study, the textual comprehension of a Mabel Condemarin’s (1997) story by a nine years old moderate phonological dyslexic is analyzed according to Sperber and Wilson’s (1986, 1995) relevance theory. Therefore, the researcher-patient oral interaction is described in terms of logical form, explicature and implicature concepts. As anticipated by the literature, the analysis suggests that this individual establishes his inferences starting from assumptions of his encyclopedic memory, because his phonological component deficits.Downloads
