This article proposes the systematic inter-relation between reading/writing to teach L1 and L2, in the school, because, in society, there is interdependence between both practices in social activities in which people engage daily. Such association may be used in language teaching/learning, though, in order to minimize the difficulties related to both practices, within the school and academic contexts and, more broadly, to meet a diversity of social needs. Considering that the social interdependence is undeniable, the proposal is to associate reading and writing in language teaching, also giving emphasis to the role of previous knowledge and reading strategies to improve the capacity of reading and writing.Downloads
