The research “Education, language and reading practices” reflects about the relationships between the ideas implicated in its title (education, language and reading practices) and focuses on the analysis of contemporary cultural products for children, offering strategies for teaching in reading of these products, in order to contribute to the formation of independent readers. The subproject “ Reading and mediation of the popular tale” focuses on the popular tale as a gender present in the formation of the literary reader, since analysis of previous studies indicate that there are defects in the approach of this type of narrative. Probably this happens because of the lack of clarity about the qualities that give a work the status of literature. Also we can realize that there is a predominance of structuralist concepts of reading in the teachers’ practice, producing authoritarian readings, which take precedence over practices of mediation. To study the nature of the popular tale, we will use the story "Coco Verde e Melancia", which will be analized using Propp (1984), Cascudo (2002, 1998, 1967), Jolles (1976), Azevedo (2009a; 2009b ) to indicate ways of meaning inherent in the text.Downloads
