Revista Redes publicly announces a call for papers for the thematic dossier "DIGITAL FOOD MARKETS IN BRAZIL: dynamics, innovations and challenges", which will be published online in volume 29 during 2024.
The aim of this thematic dossier is to disseminate scientific articles that develop theoretical and methodological reflection and/or present the results of empirical and comparative research into the digitalization processes underway in rural Brazil and internationally, more specifically by what the literature has called digital food markets, that are being built socio-technically by family farmers, consumers and the social organizations, such as cooperatives.
The aim is to bring together articles from the humanities and applied social sciences, with different disciplinary perspectives, as well as different theoretical and methodological approaches that analyze the processes of digitizing the marketing of family farming, on any of the following three fronts: the first, on the supply side, with analysis of the construction of digital food markets by family farmers on platforms, websites, social networks, etc. the second, involving analysis of the role of social organizations (cooperatives, associations, consumer groups, etc.) that manage food marketing platforms and websites; and the third, on the demand side, with analysis of the habits and behavior of food consumers who participate in these digital and online marketing spaces.
The Dossier will be structured in two parts: the first part will consist of theoretical and methodological texts on digitalization. We are looking for texts that relate this approach transversally to the themes of regional and sustainable development (Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs), and/or to theoretical advances in the areas of family farming, rural development, food systems and, preferably, to the conceptual aspects embedded in the theme of food and digital markets. The second part of the dossier will consist of empirical and comparative case studies, both national and international. The question guiding the submission of articles is: what are the dynamics, innovations and challenges of the social construction of digital food markets in Brazil for farmers, consumers and their social organizations?
These, among others, are some of the themes and issues that this Thematic Dossier on Networks proposes to bring together, debate and share.
The articles can be submitted to the journal's system (https://online.unisc.br/seer/index.php/redes/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions) until April 30th, 2024, in accordance with the Guidelines for Authors (https://online.unisc.br/seer/index.php/redes/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions) and will be subject to desk review and double blind peer review, in accordance with the journal's editorial policies, available on the Redes website.
The articles in the dossier are expected to be published in the second half of 2024.
The articles approved for publication will be made available to readers in the original language and in their respective English version, which is the responsibility of the authors and a condition of publication. In the case of submissions made in English, the approved article will only be published in this language.
